Svensk definition

En grupp mycket cellrika, primitiva rundcellstumörer som uppträder extrakraniellt i mjukvävnad och benvävnad och härrör från embryonala neurallistceller. Tumörerna förekommer främst hos barn eller ungdomar och har en hel del särdrag gemensamma med Ewings sarkom. De kan komma från bröstkorgen, huden, ögonhålan, njurarna och andra strukturer, och är gärna invasiva eller bildar metastaser, även om förhållandevis godartade former kan förekomma. Till typiska histologiska drag hör tendensen att bilda Homer-Wright-rosetter och färgas positivt med nervcellsspecifikt enolas och vimentin.

A group of highly cellular primitive round cell neoplasms which occur extracranially in soft tissue and bone and are derived from embryonal neural crest cells. These tumors occur primarily in children and adolescents and share a number of characteristics with EWING SARCOMA.
