En hjärtstimulerande glykosid som huvudsakligen erhålls från fingerborgsblomman Digitalis lanata. Den består av tre sockerdelar och aglykonet digoxigenin. Digoxin har positivt inotrop och negativt kronotrop effekt, och används för att reglera kammarrytmen vid förmaksflimmer och för behandling av kronisk hjärtinsufficiens med förmaksflimmer. Däremot är effekten vid kronisk hjärtinsufficiens och sinusrytm osäker. Marginalen mellan toxisk och terapeutisk dos är liten.
A cardiotonic glycoside obtained mainly from Digitalis lanata; it consists of three sugars and the aglycone DIGOXIGENIN. Digoxin has positive inotropic and negative chronotropic activity. It is used to control ventricular rate in ATRIAL FIBRILLATION and in the management of congestive heart failure with atrial fibrillation.
