Mitokondrier i leverceller. Dessa har, som hos alla mitokondrier, ett yttre och ett inre membran som tillsammans bildar två separata mitokondriefack: ett inre, substansfyllt utrymme och ett smalt utrymme mellan membranen. I levermitokondrien finns uppskattningsvis 67% av mitokondrieproteinerna i den inre matrisen.

As in all mitochondria, there are an outer membrane and an inner membrane, together creating two separate mitochondrial compartments: the internal matrix space and a much narrower intermembrane space.
