En grupp virus av släktet Pestivirus som orsakar diarre, feber, munsår, blödningssyndrom och olika typer av nekrotiska sår hos nötkreatur och andra husdjur (bovin virusdiarre, BVD). De två arterna (genotyperna), BVDV-1 och BVDV-2, uppvisar olikheter i fråga om antigenicitet och patogenicitet. Den tidigare benämningen BVDV omfattade båda arterna.
A group of viruses in the genus PESTIVIRUS, causing diarrhea, fever, oral ulcerations, hemorrhagic syndrome, and various necrotic lesions among cattle and other domestic animals. The two species (genotypes), BVDV-1 and BVDV-2 , exhibit antigenic and pathological differences. The historical designation, BVDV, consisted of both (then unrecognized) genotypes.
